NWTF Lowndes County Longspurs 2026 Youth Hunt
The 2026 Georgia Special Youth Season opens on March 21st and the NWTF Lowndes County Longspurs Chapter will again host this years hunt and education event. The kids are able to pattern their shotguns on Friday afternoon with the help of the local DNR and also received safety guidelines for their hunt. I do my usual call seminar describing the different types of calls and how they are used to call turkeys. Eack hunter is given a turkey call donated by Lynch Since 1940 and this year NeckBone Custom Shop donated custom yelpers to the Top 3 Highest scores. One lucky hunter with the a largest scoring turkey receives a TriStar Shotgun. Many other donations are given to the kids and all are treated to dinner on Friday and lunch Saturday. The volunteers and guides work hard to make Friday before the opening day hunt a great experience and we all enjoyed the great fellowship with those attending. I started making NeckBone Trumpets and Yelpers in January of 2022 and I new my designs, but I did experiment with some different combinations and materials to better understand how the internal workings of an air actuated call will change with size and material densities.
